Our client with a HQ in the mid-Ulster area is a leading player within the heavy Engineering Manufacturing sector. They are a long-established and committed to providing excellence in all areas of their operations and encourage the continuous training and development of staff. Due to continued growth they now wish to appoint a Senior Design Engineer.

The Role – Senior Design Engineer


Based in their mid-Ulster HQ the successful candidate will:

  • Manage the cradle to grave product Design using Solidworks
  • Production and Maintenance of product files and article structures
  • Certify specifications received from the sales department and support product costing
  • Assist in Development of New Products /Jigs / tools and support manufacturing / production process improvements
  • Modify existing products for efficiency and cost reasons
  • Management Design Changes (through the Design Change Request Process)
  • Manage changes to product specifications in line with the current specification change system
  • Assist in improving the efficiency of the design department
  • Ensure all legal requirements are met in relation to Design and Build functionality
  • Liaise with and assist Management to ensure Quality and on time Delivery of Product
  • Report on feedback and improvements through assessing customer concerns



The ideal Candidate – Senior Design Engineer

  • Educated to Degree (or equivalent) 2:1 or above in a relevant discipline
  • Previous experience with 3D Solidworks Modelling
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of Pro-Nest software
  • Exceptionally well-developed interpersonal skills with effective presentation and influencing skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Evidence of effective organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, email and the internet
  • Able to work flexibly to ensure deadlines are met
  • Experience in 3D CAD
  • Experience of Quality Systems
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative requirements
