Our client is a multi-award-winning Civil Engineering Company based in South Down. Due to continued growth they now require a Quantity Surveyor to join the senior management team.

Quantity Surveyor

The Role (full spec available on request):

  • Manage and negotiate through the subcontract tender process
  • Preparation and processing of quotations, bids and tenders
  • Produce breakdowns and undertake value engineering processes to meet Client budgetary requirements.
  • Preparation of reports and technical documentation, as well as assisting with bid and tender documentation, and contractual terms.
  • Preparation of cost, value and reconciliation monthly reports on each assigned project.
  • Monitor cash flow and valuation planning, ensuring applications are made correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Completion of site measurements and preparing estimates for clients.
  • Coordinate with Clients, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers to ensure information; costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of each project through to final accounts.
  • Manage sub-contractor's account in strict accordance with their terms and conditions to meet project demands/timeframes.


The ideal candidate –

  • A highly motivated QS that will thrive at being part of a small but rapidly growing team.
  • A third level qualification in Quantity Surveying with at least 5 years’ experience working on major contracts
  • Commercially aware with a sound working knowledge of civil engineering and groundworks
  • Knowledge of Irish and UK rates
  • Demonstrable experience producing valuations and final accounts
  • Negotiation experience of confirming, agreeing and pricing variations.

Other information -

  • The role will be based in South Down with occasional UK travel (circa up to twice per month).
  • There are also options for flexibility work from home which can be discussed at interview.
