Our client, Kukoon Rugs is an award winning, online and instore retailer based in Newry. They ship over 150,000 rugs globally every year through multiple different channels. Your role would be supporting the expansion of the business by developing and owning the purchasing strategy.

Your new role in summary:

  • You will develop and own the business’s purchasing strategy with the objective of increasing revenue and profitability by building and managing strong and lasting commercial relationships with global suppliers
  • Establish and manage purchasing budget and carry out frequent spend analysis
  • Managing relationships with freight companies to ensure the most efficient service for the most economical costs in line with the company goals
  • KPI reporting to ensure effective management of purchasing strategy
  • Maintain stock levels in line with agreed strategy
  • Pro-actively manage and analyse incoming competitor and supplier pricing to ensure that opportunities for focused purchasing and selling (via RRP management) are maximised
  • Visit international suppliers and trade shows when required
  • Introducing new products into the product portfolio to support the businesses growth plans
  • Source potential new suppliers to improve quality, range, cost and delivery schedules
  • Managing information systems internally to allow colleagues to track the progress of orders and the status of SKUs
  • Managing the additions of new stock on to the ERP system

The ideal Candidate:

  • A 3rd level education (degree / HND) and minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar purchasing role
  • Experience and knowledge of importing containers
  • A results driven attitude with ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Excellent IT (MS Excel) skills
  • Be able to demonstrate pace, accuracy and ability to think and negotiate logically
  • The ability to network and develop strong working relationships
  • Comfortable with implementing 3rd party stock management systems
