Operations Manager - FMCG Manufacturing

We live in uncertain times, but we are delighted to be actively recruiting for some of Ireland's leading companies. Based in Co. Monaghan, our client has invested in excellent food manufacturing facilities and processing machinery. Due to continued investment and growth, they now have a requirement for an:


Operations Manager

This business operates a manufacturing environment that relies heavily on the very highest hygiene and food care standards. This has enabled them to adapt with little difficulty to the current COVID-19 pandemic and show respect for the health and wellbeing of employees. Indeed, their business is thriving, and they are looking at opportunities to mechanise parts of the operation to assist increased throughput.


The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Director and will have responsibility for leading the operations team within the manufacturing unit to achieve various KPI’s.


You will support the Operations Director and support the ongoing CAPEX programme for the business. This is a busy, high throughput business and the position will appeal to a passionate, quality driven manufacturing professional. Operational metrics that you will strive to achieve include the following areas:


  • Staff
  • Financial performance
  • Health & Safety
  • Technical
  • Manufacturing Performance – meet KPI’s
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Environment


The ideal candidate:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years management experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment (ideally fresh produce)
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to show flexibility to meet the needs of the business that has several locations (this this does not require extensive travel)
  • Excellent IT and Organisational skills particularly capacity planning and ERP / MRP systems
  • Strong numeracy, literacy and problem solving skills and with a pro-active and forward thinking mind-set
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of building successful teams
  • Good engineering / technical aptitude
  • Experience of successful implementation of Continuous Improvement techniques in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident, assertive with sound decision making skills
  • Sound report writing and presentation skills
  • Consumer and Customer orientated and willing to engage with retail customers
