Senior Business Development Manager

Our client, a major player in the FMCG sector, is based in County Down. This long established company is a supplier of produce to the major food retailers, symbol groups and food service companies.  Due to continued growth, the company now wishes to appoint an ambitious Business Development Manager with a proven track record of success within the FMCG sector.

The role:

  • Northern and Southern Ireland account management - to be the principle day-to-day contact for all customers, responding to queries in a timely manner and disseminating all relevant information amongst internal teams
  • Reporting to the Managing Director on key customer issues
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current customers & seek new customers
  • Provide accurate and timely product availability and pricing for customers
  • Work closely with customers to ensure products are marketed with the correct packaging and assist in any associated marketing developments
  • Work closely with internal teams in the preparation of product costings/margins and any other financial information as required
  • To research and provide feedback on market trends/competitor activity/pricing
  • To manage promotions ensuring all relevant information is disseminated amongst the appropriate teams within the business
  • Prepare sales presentations
  • Development and implementation of marketing plans/promotions as required
  • Research and communicate new product opportunities/development; packaging and products
  • Participate in marketing events


The person:


  • Ideally a 3rd level education in a business or closely related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ FMCG experience selling to food service and food manufacturing
  • Highly numerate with ability to create, work with and present financial information in a sales environment
  • Ability to work with costings/margins and able to organise large volumes of data on spreadsheets
  • Strong commercial acumen  and an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Customer-focused and proven ability to build and maintain strong customer and working relationships
  • Ability to work with internal teams to deliver on customer’s expectations
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and IT skills
  • Highly committed, driven and assertive
  • Experience of managing and developing a small team
