Senior Product Development & Technical Manager

Based in Co. Armagh, our client is a leading and well-established producer of high quality food products to the UK & Ireland ‘multiple’ retail trade. Due to continued success, they have a requirement for a Senior Food New Product Development (NPD) & Technical Manager.


Senior Product Development & Technical Manager


The Role in brief (a full specification is available on request):

You will lead New Product Development but will also support product and process improvement. It is likely that the ideal candidate will have a science background and aptitude. The position also requires the holder to provide an insight into product technical issues that may arise.


You will be part of the development and Technical team, playing a key role in shaping and implementing NPD strategy for the business and managing relevant continuous improvement and technical projects.


The ideal candidate (please call for full details):

·         Significant relevant experience in NPD at management level, gained in a food manufacturing / food production environment

·         Thorough understanding of the NPD process, from concept stage, costings, factory trials through to product launch

·         Excellent understanding of food science and technical issues

·         Analytical approach to problem solving

·         The ability to conduct multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·         Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise, work pro-actively and accurately, paying attention to detail

·         Flexible in working hours (e.g. product launches, audits etc.)

·         I.T. competent in Microsoft Office


Ideally, the post holder will also have:

·         A relevant food or science related 3rd level qualification

·         Experience in managing/delivering projects

·         Fresh produce experience

·         Cooked and chilled food experience
