Our client, based in South Down, are an innovative and market leading engineering company exporting parts across the UK, Europe and the United States. Due to their continued success they now require a Planner / Buyer

Overview – Planner / Buyer

  • Process Sales orders and issue works orders to production using an MRP based system
  • Liaise effectively with internal departments such as production and planning as well as external customers and suppliers
  • Create purchase orders & issue relevant documentation accurately to suppliers
  • Liaise closely with manufacturing to ensure customers are updated on order status
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure deliveries are accurate and delivered on time and in full
  • Continually review and where possible improve existing processes and quality standards


The ideal candidate - Planner & Buyer

A good standard of education preferably 3rd level qualification in a business or related area.

  • Further training / qualifications gained within Supply Chain area
  • Good analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective decisions
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to demonstrate high levels of accuracy
  • Excellent IT skills (MS Office especially Excel and experience using related planning tools such as MRP / ERP)
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to work flexibly to meet the demands of the position
  • Resilient and able to effectively prioritise work in a fast-paced demanding environment
  • Ideally, 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role, processing sales and purchase orders
