Fermentation Manager

As the largest business of its type in the world, our client supplies a range of fresh product to national and international retailers in the UK, Europe and North America.  With Group headquarters located in County Monaghan, the group also has production facilities in the UK, Ireland, continental Europe and N. America.  The company has a workforce of circa 3,500 people spread across all its geographic locations.

Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the Fermentation Manager will supervise and coordinate the activities of a small team of scientists and technicians focused on fungal and bacterial fermentation processes.

Skills, qualifications and experience required are:

  • Experience in working with different capacity lab scale fermenters and subsequent downstream processing
  • Experience in presenting technical materials in written and verbal form is critical
  • Experience in fed-batch and high cell density fermentation
  • Experience in optimising the process conditions and cost analysis
  • Minimum 5 years industrial research experience
  • Minimum 3 years project and staff management
  • PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Enzymology, Biochemistry or related discipline
