Continuous Improvement Manager

Reporting into the Senior Management Team, the Continuous Improvement Manager will have responsibility for driving forward and supporting the development and deployment of structured continuous improvement activities across the site to deliver best in class operational excellence.

Utilising continuous improvement and lean techniques, the CI Manager will support the site management team to imbed a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement and the behaviours of a high performance lean organisation.

The role:

  • Lead, design and implement a structured Business Improvement plan to optimise factory performance. The plan will include clear roles and responsibilities along with clearly defined metric’s and measurement which will allow the business to measure progress with the plan
  • Evaluate, utilise deploy and embed a range of continuous improvement and lean techniques to deliver best in class operational excellence which can be measured through the financial performance of the factory and in line with Profit Improvement Plans
  • In conjunction with the Site Management Team, lead / champion and deliver a strategy / plan for a lean organisation and to optimise employee engagement in improvement activities
  • Apply expert knowledge in continuous improvement methods to improve OEE and EF performance, quality, reduce cost, inefficiencies and waste and improve customer service levels. This expert knowledge should include the use of tools such as work study, process and task mapping 5c or 5s etc.
  • Implement a root cause problem solving methodology and capability across the factory
  • Review current ways of working within the factory in terms of product and process flow, making suitable recommendations in terms of improvement, using continuous improvement techniques

The ideal candidate:

  • Extensive experience of working with Continuous Improvement within the manufacturing industry
  • Minimum requirement of a third level qualification ideally with post graduate training / development in related business areas (Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.)
  • Previous experience of facilitating cultural change gained ideally within an FMCG / Manufacturing environment
  • Significant and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of delivering sustainable change initiatives and results
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • An excellent communicator; able to liaise with varying stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience gained within the Food Manufacturing industry is advantageous
  • Previous experience of incorporating continuous improvement/business transformation in overall business strategy.
