Business Development Manager - Service

The position in brief (full specification is available on request)

  • This is a new position created to accelerate the strategic & commercial development of the Company’s service solutions and customer experience capabilities.
  • Reporting to the Sales Director, the Business Development Manager is a Senior Management role pivotal to the company’s strategic objectives of providing world class service solutions and growth in a global context.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with Product Management and the product development function to drive value
  • The role will share responsibility for the effectiveness of the global service delivery and best practice through either direct reports or close collaboration with regional service managers.

The candidate:

  • 2:1 in Engineering or Science Degree or Equivalent Qualification
  • Previous experience in a Senior commercially focused role developing, servicing or selling products and solutions within a hi-tech / medical / device industry
  • Proven track record of business development incorporating strategy development and execution
  • Experience working internationally would be advantageous
  • Demonstrable leadership skills with ability to influence throughout the organisation
  • Evidence of ability to define and drive strategic step change
  • Creative and innovative thinker, committed to root cause solutions
  • Strong business acumen, analytical with commercial focus
  • Customer Focus - with a sound appreciation of the current and future requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Builds long term relationships of trust and influence with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
  • Management and organisation - Plans own time and time of others to maximise effectiveness
  • Able to liaise effectively with Sales, Marketing and development teams and articulate technical or complex issues clearly and succinctly
  • Identifies and takes advantage of opportunities to achieve (and exceed) business objectives. Initiates actions to develop new and better ways of working, using previous experience and any mistakes as positive opportunities for improvement.
