Assistant Engineering Manager

Our client is a leading UK company supplying a wide range of consumer food products.  Due to significant investment and expansion in their mid-Ulster facility, they wish to appoint a:

Assistant Engineering Manager      

The role in brief:

  • Daily supervision of the engineering team, prioritising reactive work and scheduling preventative maintenance
  • Manage the engineering team in continuous process improvement activity across the site, for example lean projects, to include OEE, waste, energy and cost reduction.
  • Assist the site in the identification and delivery of performance and cost improvement projects in support of the business objectives.
  • Set a professional standard for the engineering team in conduct, behaviours and quality of work expected.
  • Management of the engineering store, procurement replenishment and establishing and maintaining a stock of critical spares.
  • To be responsible for the supervision of contractors
  • The management of the shift engineers holidays rota and sickness absence cover.
  • To be responsible for performance management of the team and compliance with all company policies.
  • Assist with management of training and development plan for team.
  • To work as a member of a team helping to implement and maintain all company working practices and Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
  • To ensure utility meter logs are completed accurately and investigate any abnormal consumption.
  • To provide engineering support to the factory as and when required outside of normal office hours.

The person:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ recent relevant industrial experience. 
  • Demonstrate a successful track record of managing and leading an engineering function; minimum 3 years.
  • Excellent people management and development skills, with a positive, can do attitude coupled with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Confident individual with good communication skills, and have the ability and skill set to develop and support the team. 
  • The drive to be able to make an immediate impact in this area.
  • Candidates must have a valid driving licence.
